On the 18th, we received a call from a Bliss contract owner. He said he received contract information from Mecca Management Consultants (meccamanagementconsultants.com). They offered him something like $56,000 to buy his Bliss contract. Wow, he said! Great deal. Sign me up.
But, it was too good to be true.....consider the following:
It was really good to talk to you this morning and
to get a bit more info on these companies.
As was posted by Ladyz and the documents that she
sent as well, it was so similar to how we were contacted. We received a phone
call from Scott Case and he told us that the company he worked for,Mecca
Management Consultants, calls owners to offer to buy their vacation contracts.
At first this raised a small flag but I continued to listen, he explained how
their corporate clients did not care what they had to pay they just wanted the
weeks without the hassle of going through the sales pitch. Again this sounded
plausible but then he told us how much they were offering, basically 4 times the
amount we had paid. Then as LadyZ had posted, he said that his assistant would
forward us the offer to look over, sign and send back.
We did sign the documents and send them back, we
then received a call from a Catherine Lucas (I think as she did not articulate
her name) from Liberty Escrow saying that the funds have been received and that
her assistant would sent out the documents and closing instructions. She also
told us that they needed to do a title search and that we would need to pay for
half of this up front and then would receive those monies back once all the
documents had come in to her office.
The forms we received basically sent up RED
FLAGS, RED LIGHTS and HUGE " DANGER" signs. In one document it asked for
permission to charge to fee against my credit card and also wanting a photocopy
of said card, front and back along with a photocopy of my ID front and back. Can
you say Identity Theft!!!! Also on all the documents I received not once did
they have the property right, I have purchased at The Bliss in Nuevo and on all
the documents they have it as Riviera Maya. I am assuming this is because I told
them that it was the one opening first, so for a company that states they got my
name from an owners list that is public domain they should have at least gotten
the resort right.
Now that I have had a chance to research a bit more
and read some information about other such companies, here is the documents for
everyone to read and take from them a warning. By the way we did not lose any
money since we never have or will send the documents to Liberty
I hope that this helps others.
Thanks Mike....yes, too good to be true! You can see how these contracts are worded here.
September 13, 2010
Periodically, we all receive unsolicited information and offers from people and companies who somehow obtained our names, telephone numbers, cell phone numbers, addresses, ownership level and number of weeks. These folks receive their information from people who steal it from the Grupo Vidanta and Grupo Mayan organizations. Please allow us to be blunt.
Here are some of the contacts:
Brenda notified us on the 10th of September that she was contacted by someone impersonating a Mayan Palace employee who was taking a poll of Mayan Palace members. She did not volunteer any information and called the Mayan Palace (Grupo Vidanta) to ask about the poll. The answer was the Mayan Palace personnel were not conducting a poll and advised Brenda to not provide any information.
In April, 2010, TheZLady was approached by Vacation Network Solutions. She was very engaging with the representative and obtained great insight into the deal. Click here to read why the contract was too good to be true.
May and June, Peter said and Gary III reported contact with Prestige Property Consultants.
received word from Dan and Lynn that they were contacted by
MeccaManagement Consultants. You can read the representative's letter,
which seems very similar to the letter we saw from Prestige Property
Consultants. You can view it by clicking on the PDF file below.
Let us know if you have other candidates for the Hall of Shame and we will gladly advertise their offer.
