and his family are in Nuevo Vallarta as we speak. He sent us all on
the first day of his vacation photos of the current state of
construction at the Vidanta Nuevo Vallarta Property. The Luxxe Tower
is nearing completion. Swimming pools and landscaping are moving into
place. The Grand Bliss is making progress. New roadways across the
lakes from the Mayan Palace and Grand Bliss are cropping up. In
essence, the property is changing in front of our open eyes.
we owners who have bought or upgraded into new construction have not
been able to use the facilities we paid for, we are excited about the
fact that the Luxxe tower is nearing completion, the Mayan Palace is
open, the Grand Bliss should be open by the end of the year and the
Nayar Golf course should be open by May 2010. Furthermore, the
Luxxe Tower II building is currently 8 stories tall.
Ron, thank you from all of us for taking time from your vacation to show us what is going on at Nuevo Vallarta.
Enjoy Ron's Comments

Ron has checked in this morning. Tomorrow is his last day. He sent us more photos for us to enjoy. Ron's latest post is below:
Hi Bob and Mary Ann,
Got to see my corner a little bit last night. Wow, great job! One clarification: When I said the pic of the sea lion was taken after they
released him, I meant after they released him when taking blood samples. They had 4 people holding him down while they drew blood. He is quite tame, he's been with them for awhile. Not sure if he will be released or go to the Dolphin Adventure (?). He's up to eating 22 kilos of fish a day. Soft opening today, I will try to get some pictures/short movies. Ron
Dolphin Adventure of Nuevo Vallarta and Mayan Palace are rehabbing an injured sea lion that washed up on the beach to die. They have set up a habitat for the sea lion behind the construction fence behind the beach near the Havana Moon Restaurant. I am impressed by what they are doing to save
it. A visiting Canadian vet was there to show the locals how to draw blood, when we snooped onto the scene. My pictures are taken after they released him. Ron
We think Ron meant "before" they released him. Thanks Ron.....

More news from Ron. The Grand Luxxe I Tower is sparkling with new decking, plants, pools and landscaping. It will definitely be a pleasure for all of us to spend some or all of our vacations there. You can see for yourself in Ron's video of the Grand Luxxe I Tower entrance.
Another interesting Grand Luxxe I Tower feature is the double pool setup. It would seem the sun bathing in front of the Luxxe I Tower will be one experience, laying out at the Beach Infinity Pool would be another and spending time on the beach is another. Speaking of the beach experience, although we swim in the ocean off our mile long stretch of beach all the time, Mother Nature has performed her magic by reshaping some of the beach in front of the Luxxe Beach Infinity Pool. The Merchant's Palapa is now history. The beach in front of the Sea Garden, on the other hand is growing.
Ron is looking forward to the Grand Luxxe I Tower opening. You know we will hear all about it.
Thanks from all of us Ron!

Ron sent us a photo of the beach, the Luxxe I Tower 5 days before the scheduled opening and an updated photo of the Luxxe II Tower. The beach photo shows significant beach sand migration at the south end of the beach. The merchant's palapa was destroyed. High tides have been taking their toll.
Folks we met from Canada, who bought Bliss last year, went on a tour and were
told that Bliss buildings will be on the other side of the road (I
thought the maps on your site also showed this). They have not been started and when asked when, the salesperson said next year, but probably not until the year after that.
Also, my wife was told by a beach merchant, that Grupo Mayan was going
to build a rock jetty like the one down the beach past the Sea Garden.
I don’t know exactly where (thinking about sand migration) they will
place it. Ron
Where I come from (Long Island, NY), years ago they built rock jetties to
try and prevent erosion. They worked and they didn't. The sand flows from
east to west on LI, the jetties stopped the sand, and between the jetties
the beaches built up. But where the jetties ended, the western beaches
eroded (they didn't get replenished) and the houses there were taken out by
I talked to people who live in the last condos before the rock jetty just
before the marina by Paradise Village, and they said their beach was getting
wider. I think the sand migrates from the point toward that jetty.
large palapa that the venders use is going down. I think the rocks that MP
put in to stop the loss of the point stopped the migration of sand to the
old MP beach, and therefore it is being lost.
I download and upload my mail down at the internet café, using Entourage. I
am only on for a minute or two, so I haven't visited your site since we left
home. I haven't seen the pictures put on by anyone for some time now.
"Instant" forest going in over at the GL. I'll send some more pictures
soon. Because of the loss of the wall and path, they have been shooing
The weather is still great!

Hi Bob and Mary Ann,
We had dinner at Café del Lago tonight and they had water in the pool in front of the GL. Through the darkness they were working on grading and planting between the GL and Café del Lago.
Strangely, they pulled out plants that probably were recently planted (obviously only for the interim) and were re-grading and replanting. Lots of labor going at it. Lots of trees (look like naked logs) being planted along paths that were just put in.
Should be walkable in a few days (if I can).
The circular pool near the MP pool (what's left of it) has to be GL bec they built it about 5 feet above the MP and there is a wall at the end of the MP pool that we were told would be a waterfall, I guess into the MP pool (a definite end point). They have this section of the MP pool fenced off, and I took a pic of it last Sunday, which I will attach here.
PS Rained quite a bit today, very strange.

Hi Bob and MaryAnn,
If this is the pool you are asking about (the pool by the beach), it will definitely be GL.
It's a puzzle to me as to where the GB pools will be. The only place
I can envision is on the other side of the road (golf course side) from the GB. There doesn't seem to be any room on the building side. Which
begs the question as to why the big lake in between the GL and the
ocean instead of pools? Any ideas?
January 12, 2010
Hi Bob and Mary Ann,
tried (to go around the point) from the beach, but you wouldn't believe the waves! I couldn't
get around the point to approach from the golf course (which I was told
lost a hole to the waves, but can't verify).
There were many workers
not only working on the pools but also the wall and steps from the
beach. I will send photos.
My only rumor: I asked at check in what the ends of the MP would be,
told a supervisor that I heard Bliss. He said, no they would be MP,
bec how can they have 2 different levels in the same building? I don?t
see any workers on the MP extensions. Active work on the GB. Active
work on the building of walls and earth moving to connect the waterway
in front of the MP and GB to the waterway on the old golf course. I
will send pics of that as well.

Ron has provided videos of the Luxxe I and Luxxe II Towers taken from behind the Cafe del Lago. He also sent a video showing the work on the waterway between the Grand Bliss and the Mayan Palace. Check them out .......
Thank you Ron....
