Bruce and Sherrie are in Nuevo Vallarta staying in their Grand Luxxe Villa for the week. They took time out to send us all photos of the new construction that is taking place adjacent to Luxxe I Tower. Earlier, Sean was passing through on a cruise ship. He was able to leave the ship for a day and visit the property. During his brief stay, he took photos of the new construction area that has been cleared.
Take a look. It is a sea of rebar now. It will be interesting to watch it grow.
Based on past performance, this next luxxe tower could be available by the end of 2011.
We looked into our archives and found photos that show a similar scene but were taken at a different place on the property. Yes, it is the Grand Bliss building as the area was cleared of the old Disco and utility building. Thanks to Linda for sending us her photos of the cleared area for new construction of the Grand Bliss to us last February.
Additionally, we revisited John and Ruth's photos that he sent to us last July. Included was a 3-D map of an architect's rendering of the property. Granted, the maps are probably out of date. Regardless, the area of the new building could easily look similar to the one that is under construction now.
Great fun, indeed!
Click here to follow the journey. Thanks Bruce and Sherrie. Thanks again Sean, Suzanne and Leo, John and Ruth and Linda.

Marc sent us some of his photos of the Grand Luxxe I Tower as he saw it on February 7, 2010. In addition subject matter (the state of the building in anticipation of the "soft opening"), his photos are taken from a new vantage point.
Between the ocean and the walkway to the Luxxe pool area is a lake. It is not complete yet. But there is a distance between the two sides. Marc's vantage point is directly across the lagoon from the Luxxe I Tower. He must have been one of the first to walk that section of the property. It was a dirt road when we were there in November, complete with dump trucks bringing in tons of dirt to complete the landscaping Marc is standing next to.
Great fun! Thanks Marc!

This morning, we were greeted by Greg and Sue's email saying they were sending flip videos of the construction at Nuevo Vallarta. They were there the weeks after we, so their videos show more progress. Interesting to us is the canal between the Mayan Palace and the Grand Bliss. Now, the waterways on the eastern side of the Mayan Palace and Grand Bliss connect with the waterways on the ocean side of the Mayan Palace and Grand Bliss buildings.
It is also fun to note installation of the clear deck railings for the Luxxe decks is nearly complete. According to the videos offered by Greg and Sue, only the units on the first floor appear to need the installation of clear deck railings.
Greg and Sue provide panoramic views of the property, which show the ocean side areas that are under construction. Features in the waterways have changed. The peninsula is growing, Cafe del Lago is fully integrated into the newly planted vegetation and the area behind the Mayan Palace pool area continues to act as a freeway for trucks bringing tons more earth to create what appears to be the foundation for more construction.
Thank you from all of us viewers, Greg and Sue, for sharing your images with us.

Let's get started....changes are taking place at Nuevo Vallarta as we speak. Chances are changes to plans we hear are firmly in place are also likely to take place. A great example is how the lakes changed from July 2009 to December 2009.
We are posting some of our photos today. Teasers....because there are so many areas to discuss and compare. Also, so many fellow members are contributing their photos too. As a group, we are likely to be one of the most well informed groups of timeshare owners around, all because of everyone's active participation. Please, let's keep it up.

For construction buffs, the Nuevo Vallarta Grupo Vidanta property is a fascinating place. We walked the property to get a feel for how management has coordinated all the many elements that are taking place here at Nuevo Vallarta. From gardeners feverishly planting literally thousands of plants to bulldozers building and maintaining roads that allow large sized dump trucks to deliver tons of earth from one end of the property to the new peninsulas in the changing lakes to the many workers on the Luxxe towers and Grand Bliss buildings, the entire process is awesome.
Yesterday, we watched a team of red-shirted men leave the Luxxe Tower. Must have been twenty or so leaving at the end of their shift. Others were going into the building to start another shift.
Others are working on the many projects involving cementing pools, patios, and creating other new gathering areas for the Luxxe owners at the base of the Luxxe Tower.
The changes taking place are world class. We owners are the beneficiaries. Sure, there are many things to complain about, some of which we have experienced first hand. But in the grand scheme of things, we are very happy with all the construction that is underway in Nuevo Vallarta, Puerto Penasco, Acapulco, and Riviera Maya. Stay tuned!

Thanks Cher, these photos provide a feel for the progress being made at the Nuevo Vallarta Mayan property. At least five projects are under way there: Luxxe Tower #1, Luxxe Tower #2, Grand Bliss Tower, Bliss Tower and the Nayar Golf Course expansion.
We have probably missed something, like the waterways and Nayar Towen (El Pueblito?). But when so much is going on, who wants to keep count?
Thank you Cher and family.

Today vs.. yesterday. Take a look at what we have seen in the past and what we have seen most recently, which is now two months ago.
Although the photos below appear in other areas in the website, we thought it would be fun to show the "before" and "after", which is really separated only by a month or so.
We do not know at this time whether the park-like peninsulas will be open to visitors or if they are to be decorative only.
Regardless, it is fun to see the architect's impression of the property in 2008, to see the start of the peninsula in June 2009 and to see them nearly completed in early August 2009.
The same time perspective applies to the Grand Luxxe One. From November 2008 to October 2009, the changes are dramatic. No one has told us outright, but it appears clear to us that the Vidanta group wants to open Grand Luxxe One as soon as they can.
It would be great if anyone has been to the resort lately and would care to send additions to the timeline we have.

John and Ruth recently returned from a two week stay at the Grand Mayan in Nuevo Vallarta. They are excited by the activity on the property. The Mayan Palace tower is closed due to the construction taking place at the Grand Bliss building, which is next to the southern end of the Grand Mayan building and now 4 to 5 stories tall with sticks in the air. Lots of earth moving and construction taking place 7 days a week, two shifts per day.
The photos that appear below are particularly interesting because they show what took place during the two weeks of John and Ruth's stay. The subject is an island that the owner created in the large lake in front of the Mayan Palace tower.
We will post others as we receive them.
The bottom line.....Bliss and Grand Bliss are well under way.
Thanks John and Ruth!

Don and his family returned from the Nuevo Vallarta Mayan property on June 28 and have generously provided us with some of their photos. They provide a great continuation of Steve and Sandra's photos.
Take a look. Those of you who are frequent visitors to this location will be interested in how the property has changed.
These are terrific. Thank you Don and Family!

Thanks to Steve and Sandra for providing us with an update on and photos of the Nuevo property. Good to know that construction continues to move along in spite of the horrible one - two punch Mexico is reeling from. We hope you enjoy their comments.

The Luxxe tower is progressing nicely and we were told during the sales presentation that the first rooms will be available in November of this year.
The Yellow and Red Mayan buildings were 90% demolished while we were there and the complete Mayan Palace side will be closed until November while all of the lagoons and surrounding areas are re-worked.
Cabalto and the old laundry facility will be the next to get demolished to give way to the Bliss building (which is two floors off the ground and going strong), Bliss pool area and I believe another Bliss tower.
We were told that they will be planting grass on the golf course in the next month or so, so that should be completed hear in the near future.
One of the interesting things that our sales rep told us was that in November when the Luxxe tower opens they plan on starting another tower where the Mayan Palace Yellow and Red buildings were located which we had not heard before and none of the maps indicate that so we found that interesting.
He also told us that Nayar Town is expected to open in November of 2010 due to commemorate some anniversary (I believe for Nyarit, Sorry I have vacation brain fade on that one!) so he said there is a deadline to complete for this celebration.
The only restaurants open were Samba, Tramanto, Tacos Break, Ola Mulata and Havana Moon (which is new since we were there last year) was only open for breakfast during FR, Sat, Sun and Mon presentation breakfasts. Gonj (which is also new and in place of Green Break since we were there last year) only had a limited Sushi menu available in Tramanto.
This update is great! It's the next best thing to being there in person. Although construction is under way in many places throughout the property, Steve and Sandra's comments and photos are just what we need to keep our spirits up, given all the negativity that seems to be spreading around these days. We all would love to see the GL open early in November. What a treat that would be, right?

Thanks to Gord and Joanne, who sent us a copy of a map of the Nuevo Vallarta property after recently returning from their stay at the Nuevo Vallarta Grand Mayan. This map shows the proforma locations of new buildings and puts all the concepts discussed earlier into a visual representation.
Also, thanks to Linda, who sent us another map of proposed changes to the Nuevo Vallarta Mayan property. This map shows the proposed golf courses. These items are not on the map posted below. With permission, we have posted both for your information and viewing pleasure.
